Honda used two different Z50 / Monkey key blanks. The groove on the blade is on opposite sides. The wrong blank will not go into the lock, even if it is cut correctly.

This listing is the Type 1 2006 Limited Chrome blank.

How to choose

Hold your existing key with the Honda head facing you and the blade pointing down.

  • Type 1 — groove / indent on one side of the blade
  • Type 2 — same groove on the other side

They are not interchangeable.

If your key matches Type 1, this is the correct blank.
If your key matches Type 2, do not buy this listing. It will not enter the ignition, fuel cap or helmet lock.

If you have no key to compare, do not order this blank on guesswork.

What you are buying

Uncut Type 1 2006 Limited Chrome Honda Monkey / Z50 key blank. It still needs cutting by a locksmith from an existing Type 1 key.

Why there are two types

These locks only have a few wafer positions and cut depths. Two mirrored blanks gave Honda more unique keys without a more expensive lock. Each bike left the factory with one type only.
